Keep Your Culture…Change Your Life

Working in conjunction with RPS 205, Rockford Woman’s Club’s current All Club Philanthropic Project is “Keep Your Culture…Change Your Life” designed to positively impact the education of Rockford’s child refugee population by facilitating the community involvement of their mothers.

RWC members will build mentoring relationships with refugee mothers, assisting individual mothers improve their language skills, improve their knowledge of Rockford, better understand their rights and responsibilities as citizens and build confidence to engage in community opportunities available to them. Members will also help refugee children improve their language skills with one on one tutoring within the classroom.

The goal of this program is to familiarize refugee mothers with their new culture, to help equip them with the life skills they need to embrace their new lives and to help them support the educational needs of their children.
